Firefly Buffet

American White Oak, Black Walnut

A kitchen is more than a place to cook—it’s where life happens.

We gather there daily to eat, talk, laugh, and make the kind of memories I hope my kids carry with them forever. Like many families, we needed more workspace, better storage, and a spot for our growing collection of cookbooks. But we also wanted something with heart. Something that felt personal.

I designed this piece to be functional—sturdy enough for everyday life, yet mobile enough to adapt when the space needs to shift. But more than that, I wanted it to tell a quiet story. The kind you only notice when you slow down and look closer. The White Oak used in this project is over 200 years old, and I like to think it carries the history of where it once stood. I believe the best materials speak for themselves—full of character, full of life—and deserve to be part of something meaningful.
